A NEW MOON happens at 2°48′ of LIBRA
A New Moon sends this month off, and once more, we find ourselves under a star-filled, moonless night. New Moon periods are windows of time where we may auspiciously set intentions, like planting seeds on fertile soil. Symbolically, we anchor our intentions to the lunar light, allowing these intentions to grow alongside the waxing of the Moon. This month’s NEW MOON happens in the diplomatic sign of LIBRA, the sign of balance and refinement.
Of all the 12 signs in the zodiac, LIBRA alone is inanimate. Everything else is living and breathing, while LIBRA takes form as the scales, perpetually measuring and incessantly striving for the perfect balance. In any incident, it naturally reacts by weighing both sides meticulously before rendering judgement. It is effortlessly impartial, guided only by justice and equality, making it incredibly gifted in mediation and arbitration.
The Libra archetype is the most masterful at propriety, with unmatched refinement, and a keen eye for observing etiquette. Ruled by gracious Venus, it is masterful in conducting relationships, as it automatically attunes itself with what is needed to perfectly balance the other. While this is a very valuable trait that may act as a glue for relationships, if left unchecked, Libra may fixate on the needs of others, over its own. The outcome is one of the zodiac’s great ironies: how Libra, the sign of justice and equality, unknowingly commits inexcusable grave injustice – towards its very own self.
This NEW MOON in Libra (The Other) is opposite a fiery JUPITER in Aries (The self). Tense conversations between these two polarities may result in a stand-off between a part of us where we may choose to put others first, and a part where we are called upon to give priority to our own wants and needs. This may be a period where we want very much to connect to the other, whilst also standing our ground. The need to cater to relationships are at an all time high, but so is our need to focus on our own, personal goals. Jupiter expands everything that it touches, and with Jupiter in opposition to this lunation, everything now may seem possible. To navigate this period well, reality checks are going to be necessary.
We might over calculate our capabilities to give attention to both the needs of the other, versus our own. The resulting energy may be an awkward balancing act between keeping promises made to others, and keeping promises we made to ourselves. With a retrograde Mercury passing through Venus, the ruler of this lunation, accomplishing plans may seem tricky. People may be fickle. Minds may change with the blink of an eye. If callous with our words and actions, we may end up not being able to deliver, on both ends, resulting in disappointment for all involved. Be prudent in your promises during the next following weeks.
