Ah, May. April by went so fast and so slow at the same time. Days blended into nights into days into nights. Now here we are.
May is traditionally the most colorful month here, in the Philippines. Flowers bloom, and summer is at its peak. When we think of May, we think sand, sea, beach, Flores de Mayo. Flowers upon flowers! Ice cream, summer vacation, malling kasi malamig sa mall! Lahat ito ngayon parang distant memory. Hanggang tingin sa lumang pictures nalang muna, kasi reality is such a contrast. Hindi tayo makaalis. Sarado lahat. Mahirap pa mag travel. 2 weeks more of ECQ, if you’re in the NCR. Elsewhere, movements are less restricted, but with the virus reaching the outer islands, every movement is met with trepidation.
Enter retrograde season. Saturn turns retrograde. And then Venus. And then Jupiter, a day after. Saturn tests us. The benefics, Jupiter and Venus, are retrograde, and help may not feel as readily available. Things are about to feel slow. Slower. Expecting to finally leave confinement and experience life as we did, would be foolish, to say the least. But, this does not mean gloom and doom!
Humanity is being reborn, and this is part of the beautiful process of transmutation that we are all experiencing collectively. Think of a caterpillar. After a life of eating and accumulating, and being one with the land and the trees, it reaches a point where it knows that there is more to life, and that there is no other choice but to evolve.
Think of this year as the cocoon stage. Hindi pwedeng madaliin. The process of change may seem dark and painfully slow. And confusing. However, when the butterfly emerges, the sacrifice of the caterpillar starts making sense. It needs to let go of the earth, in order to reach the sky. From Earth to Air. Pagkatapos nito, the possibilities are endless. like the little caterpillar, we should trust the process. What is in store for us, after? New beginnings, in a new reality that is so much better than what we’ve ever known before.
Lastly, the Moon’s nodes change signs. For the last year and a half, The North Node, which signifies things that we should learn and move towards, was in Cancer, a sign of nurturing. family. Caring. The South Node, which signifies what we need to let go of, was in Capricorn, a sign that deals with capitalism, materialism, and worldly ambitions.
This month, they shift. The North Node moves to Gemini, the sign of communication, and mental connections. These are things that we as a collective, should re-learn and re-discover. The beauty of a genuine connection. Learning for the joy of learning. A childlike sense of wonder and curiosity, without malice or agenda.
The South Node naman moves to Sagittarius, which represents things we may have mastered, and need to move on from. Rigid belief systems. Dogma. Traveling. Globalization. Searching the great beyond for meaning. Seeing the forest for the trees.
In order to move forward, we must go back to core. The details. What really matters? What is really important for us, not just because the world approves of it or not? Outside of the pressure of society, social networks, or globalization, what do we really want, in our heart of hearts?
For really specific details on how this month’s Cosmic Weather may affect you, you will need your exact birth time and place, and a competent astrologer who can compute and interpret your charts. However, even without these, knowing the general energies at play can greatly assist in planning ahead. You know the drill!
