August brings us a rare blue Moon, which means we have 2 Full Moons this month! Full Moons bring energies of completion and culmination, and oftentimes, flashes of emotional insights that were previously overlooked. Emotions are heightened, and feelings are potent, so fasten your emotional seatbelts!
The first of this month’s FULL MOONS happens at 9°15′ in the realm of fixed Air, AQUARIUS, the sign of the water bearer.
Full Moon In Aquarius
We are once again in the midst of a magnificent Full Moon, which also happens to be a super moon. A super moon occurs when the moon’s elliptical orbit brings it closer to Earth during its full phase. This proximity results in a moon that appears significantly larger and brighter than usual, creating a captivating display of breathtaking brilliance that is sure to inspire introspection and deep reflection. This particular super moon happens in the sign of Aquarius, energetically highlighting for all of us the archetypal themes of arguably the most intelligent sign in the zodiac.
Astrologically, Aquarius stands as an archetype of progress, innovation, and humanitarianism. It is represented as the water bearer, dispensing wisdom and insight like a life-giving stream. As an air sign, Aquarius also represents intellect, communication, and a persistent desire for freedom. The Aquarian energy encourages us to break boundaries, challenge conventions, and strive for the betterment of society as a whole.
This particular Full Moon in Aquarius inspires us to think about emotions, feelings, and other constructs in an intelligent, intellectual manner. We are encouraged to withstand sentimentality, and when we feel overwhelmed as we often do when the Moon is Full, we are encouraged to be logical and objective, with mind over matter and eyes on the prize.
Full Moon Square Jupiter
However, this full moon is also square Jupiter, adding another layer of complexity. Jupiter is the planet associated with growth and the pursuit of higher knowledge and truth. A square refers to a challenging energy exchange that causes tension between two planets. In this case, between the self-reflective energy of the full moon and Jupiter’s focus on broader goals. This aspect may stir feelings of restlessness or frustration as we struggle to balance with rationality our inner emotions, and our outer ambitions.
It’s likely for us to face difficulties during this time, perhaps feeling pulled in different directions, in the areas of our charts where this lunation lands. It’s like being in a boat in the middle of the sea with two maps and not knowing which one to follow.
On one hand, we are urged to be realistic and detached. We find the path which is the most cerebral. We get out of the puzzle. We may be a bit lonely, butt we are safe and sound, truly bothered by nothing but small nagging thoughts asking infinite iterations of the dreaded “what if…?”
On the other hand, we are tempted to throw caution to the wind and throw ourselves to adventure! We are craving for more – more emotion, more experience, more knowledge, and ultimately, more love. After all, Venus is currently still retrograde, influencing us all with her unbridled, unabashed need for pure adoration, undiluted affection, and the obsessive pursuit of more comfort, emotionally and materially. Mercury’s retrograde follows suit shortly after, muddling the waters with urgency of movement and pure confusion.
As with the first option, we eventually find out our way of this liquid labyrinth. It’s likely that the latter takes us a bit longer, and definitely renders us much worse for wear. Navigating this path can be tricky at the least, and crushing, at the most. However, it’s during these periods of internal conflict that we often gain the most insightful understanding of ourselves, allowing us eventually to have more understanding of others.
There is no right or wrong solution here, dear reader. Where you are inclined to tread is directly proportional to what you need this point in time. The journey, is the point!
